To minimise the need for a Rescue, make sure that your car is always well maintained. Carry battery Jump Leads (€17.71), a Towrope, a Fire Extinguisher
(€33.01) and a Warning Triangle (€15.17).
If you do have to call for Rescue, try to move your car to a well-lit area with a phone box near by. Return to the car after making your emergency call. Lock doors and windows and ask for proof of identity from police officers and AA patrols (or garage agents) attending your car. Do not lower the window to anyone without identity.

If you feel vulnerable and it is possible for you to leave your car until an AA patrol attends, lock it and move to a place where you can be concealed but in view of the car. On motorways return to your car but don’t get in unless you feel at risk - many fatal accidents happen on the hard shoulder.
If you feel unsafe, get into your car on the passenger side, put your seatbelt on and lock all doors. |
